Canaveral National Seashore- A barrier Island preserve with beaches, lagoons, and hiking trails stretching 24 miles between New Smyrna Beach and Kennedy Space Center. Park hours 6am-6pm extended to 8pm during summer. South of New Smyrna Beach via Highway A1A. 386-428-3384.
Canoeing-Canoeing is available on the following Florida Recreational Trail System Facilities, administered by the Florida Department of Natural Resources-

Spruce Creek-trail begins 10 miles west of New Smyrna Beach at the Moody Bridge, 1 mile south of the Port Orange Interchange on I-95.

Tomoka River-Trail starts on State Road 40, 1 mile west of I-95.

Bulow Creek-Trail starts at the Bulow Plantation Ruins State Historic Site north of Ormond Beach.
The Casements-The former winter of John D. Rockefeller which now serves as a cultural center and museum for Ormond Beach.  Tour are offered every half hour between 10a.m. and 2:30p.m. weekdays and on Saturdays 10 a.m. until 11:30a.m. Regular hours are generally 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Friday 9 a.m.-5p.m. and Saturday 9a.m.-noon.

Halifax Historical Museum, The museum that serves this area and features artifacts from local historical sites, including Indian mounds and planetariums.  Memorabilia from the early days of auto racing is also included. Mary McLeod Bethune Home, Located on the campus of Bethune-Cookman College which bears her name. The home in which Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune lived in until her death in 1955 contains artifacts that help chronicle the emergence of this nationally recognized college.

Southeast Museum of Photography, The only museum in the Southeast devoted entirely to photography. Tomoka State Park- A 1,540 acre park with camping, fishing, nature trails, picnic areas, boat launch, canoe access and rentals to the Tomoka River.
